How Gorgeous Is My Friend’s Nail Polish?

That totally does look like the inside of a shell! I’ve had the same go-to color palette for my nails for over a decade now: silvery-gold with just a bit of sparkle… sometimes it’s more gold, sometimes more silver, sometimes less sparkly, sometimes more, but it sticks around the same realm, nevertheless. It’s metallic-y and sort of bold, but still subtle and cozy somehow. I rock a short nail most of the time, but if I’m feeling fancy, I’ll go with a longer look, and I think the color looks good either way!

Every time I have tried Eddie nail polish it turned my nails yellow… anyone else had this happen? Wrote to the company but they did not respond.

Hahahaha I always order the Wendy’s baked potato! And I here I thought I was the only one sly enough to think of this fast-food hack. When I was pregnant with my second, I lived off of these. In fact, I’m still shocked that he wasn’t born an actual potato because they are they only things that keep me going those nine months. With an order of fries, of course.

I don’t wear nail polish often because I’m a nurse and have to have bare, extra clean nails… But sometimes it feels so fancy to put some on for special occasions. I am looking for a “cleaner” brand that doesn’t chip easily.

Orly has two sheer polishes that I’m loyal to – Kiss Me I’m Kind (cool-toned) and Nourishing Nude (warm-toned). One coat is great; two coats are even better. They can chip a bit and even I (a perfectionist) can’t really tell. And – unlike Essie, OPI, Dior – Orly doesn’t test on animals.

Growing up in a very strict religious household I was not allowed to wear nail polish until I was in high school. Once the ban was lifted my nails were rarely unpolished and remain that way now that I’m in my 40’s. My signature shade is a warm red, Essie: Clam Bake. It’s the perfect accessory and always makes me feel put together, even in loungewear. The real game-changing secret has been Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dry top coat! I can paint my nails and they’re solid in less than an hour. No more hair lines in my nail polish when I go straight to bed post-manicure. Also, rubber gloves for dishes and chores helps keep the nails extra protected.

I am mostly an olive and June devotee but I also love Orly’s breathable nail polish line especially fair godmother which is somehow a very understated rose gold metallic glitter.

I don’t love super sheer shades on my nails for some reason they never look as even or as pretty as they do on others. For a similar effect and especially flattering on my medium tan hands I love CHM by Olive & June. I think it’s very flattering on many.

For anyone that finds nail polish too fussy, I once got a manicure with a grandfather-y figure in my life and haven’t stopped thinking about it. No polish, just manicuring and buffing. If it was in my budget, I would totally go for that and pedicures–cleaning, exfoliating, moisturizing, pruning

I absolutely cannot wear nail polish. While there may be the rare day in which I have the time to let it dry properly, its a given that there will be cracks and peels within 2-3 days thanks to how thin my nails are. (Thank you, Hashimotos).
Nail strips by Dashing Diva have been my game changer. It takes 5 minutes to apply the stickers and file down the ends. They stay on for at leat two weeks and they don’t leave my nails shredded when I peel them off. Looks just like glossy polish. Never going back!

I have a peculiar problem with my fingernails. Years ago, they began bending downward so they curve toward my fingertips. I’ve never seen anyone else with this problem; I look like I’m turning into a cat. I keep my nails very short and even so, most of them do this bizarre thing. I try not to obsess/worry about it, and fail.

I went to a hand specialist in June for another problem (arthritis). I showed her my nails, with much trepidation and what I have to say was fierce courage — is it a little-known sign of some rare, horrible disease? She looked and said, “Hmm . . . odd. That’s just ‘The Wonder of You!’ ” Really? That’s it? I’m going to live?

I haven’t had the nerve to get a manicure since this started. I imagine all the manicurists gathering to laugh and shake their heads over my nails. But I went to a meeting last month and spent much of it staring at a friend’s short, beautiful, ivory-white manicure. My cuticles are always a mess. I decided to see what I could do. I got out the cuticle cream, shaped my claws as well as I could, and gave them two coats of Essie’s Mademoiselle, which is also like the inside of a shell, a sheer, quiet pink. No one noticed but me, but I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed looking at my shiny nails. And it lasted a week. Even I can have prettier, if weird, nails.

I love how the first thing you noticed was the shade of nail varnish and not the huge shell on your friend’s finger!!

I found the chocolate tart restaraunt and it seems to have closed. :( Sadly.

Any tips for a nail biter? I can go a couple of months without biting my nails but enter stress or a captivating book or nerves and boom! Nails gone :(

I finally after years of non stop biting nails have grown them (I have no idea how I broke the habit, but I did!) and I love painting my nails in fun but subtle colours. My current favourite is the Sally Hansen 2 step gel nail polish, in pink or copper with a bit of a sparkle (I have no idea of the actual colour names) it actually lasts on my nails for at least a week and it doesn’t chip off majorly.

I used to have a massive nail polish collection, but pared it down to just neutrals and shades of red. Revlon red is my favorite at the moment; it makes me feel like a 90s supermodel.

I was just about to put away the ruffly blouses for the winter (I’m in Maine, it’s cold already) but this photo of the black long-sleeved shirt under the white blouse is stopping me in my tracks! Thanks for new ideas!

You guys are like Regina George. I saw Cup of Jo say that nail polish is goregous, so I bought the nail color. I’m a little embarrassed how often this happens, but thank you (as usual) for a great suggestion.

ok- nurse here can’t wear nail polish because it may chip off and end up in places it does not belong- insert imagination here……but I eat PIE…… please tell me more…… I mean who puts a piece of pie on a blog and does not address it???? I need to get to know MS. Beautiful Pie much better please.
