What’s The Most Beautiful Place You’ve Ever Seen?

The village of Oia on the island of Santorini, Greece has a spectacular view to watch the sunset.

Friday Harbor, San Juan Island off Washington state coast and the Columbia River Gorge near Portland, Oregon. For cities, Talinn, Estonia’s old town, especially during “white nights” – it looks like an oil painting come to life.

The drive from Pasto to Las Lajas in Nariño, Colombia made me pull over at least ten times. I just kept thinking: “We live on a planet. This is a planet hurtling through space.” Some days, living in a big city, I forget this simple, amazing fact. Looking at the countryside in Colombia, you can’t forget. It’s too beautiful.

Scotland highlands. But I guess it will be anywhere in New Zealand – when I visit it :)

Florence

– Norwegian fjords.
– Northwestern coast of Ireland like many have said. Before I went there, I had no idea that’s what Ireland looked like. Truly magnificent.
– hiking from Fira to Oia in Santorini, coming over a crest and seeing the rest of the island splayed out in front surrounded by the bluest water.
– driving around in New Zealand South Island. Like another world.

Glacier National Park – specifically driving up going to the sun road at sunset. Grew up vacationing there and now we live close by and I forget how incredible it is until we bring a friend who hasn’t seen it.

Santorini Greece with all the lights on in the dark. Didn’t know where we were going, turned a corner from an alley and all of a sudden we were there and it was just incredible.

Iceland – all the waterfalls! the green! The ice formations. Just incredible .

I read through all the comments (and made a wanderlust list) and I didn’t see the Serengeti in Tanzania mentioned. I’m a fairly religious person, but even if I wasn’t, I think I had a religious experience just being out in untouched nature, watching animals move about freely and live as they are meant to be, where they are the rulers of the land. The sunsets over the savannah as lions stretched and cheetahs got ready to nap under baobab trees. It made me feel so insignificant in the best kind of way- the world has been here without me and it will continue to be here without me and I’m just fortunate to be a part of it for whatever short moment I’m given. To be where humankind began was holy and sacred.

Acadia National Park- I went during Night Sky festival. We climbed to the top of Cadillac Mountain and the sky was lit up with heavenly bodies. I saw Saturn and Andromeda, the next galaxy over. Our world is wondrous and I was speechless.
The fjords in Norway-going through the fjords on a boat was almost dreamlike.
Ha Long Bay- so majestic
Taj Mahal- someone mentioned it in another comment. It is very beautiful in pictures and I thought I would see it, marvel at it like I would with any other palace and go on about my way. So wrong. It is absolutely breathtaking, literally took my breath away.

Sosua Beach in the Dominican Republic.

One of the beautiful places I have seen was a small cove along Sosua Beach in the Dominican Republic. I did not expect to see such a pristine perfect beach and it took my breath away. My friend’s husband said to stop right here, that he had something to show us. He walked into someone’s home and then invited us in to see the view from the lady’s kitchen sink. We could look down on the perfect beach and this is what she would see every day as she worked in her kitchen.

Oh, and Ouray, Colorado. From up top, AHMAZING.

Zion, Monaco, Arches, as the sun sets, Swiss Alps.

The island of Madeira off the coast of Portugal, with sea cliffs, flowers and fairy tale villages is simply magical. Arriving in Venice via water taxi. Hiking the Cinque Terre. So much more in this spectacular world!

My husband is from The Yukon Territory. When he first took me there (the summer he proposed!) I remember feeling that I wished I had 12 eyes, 4 noses, 8 ears, 3 hearts – it was so beautiful that I just could NOT take it all in. It left me stunned and overwhelmed in the most beautiful and profound way. Something about untouched nature makes me believe deeply in great and divine things. I often have this same feeling overcome me when watching my 8 month old daughter sleeping in my arms.

Yes, another shout out for the Flint Hills of Kansas, the Missouri Ozarks in the spring, the scenic view of Mont Ventoux and the area from our rooftop patio in Venasque, France, and the Pacific Ocean along the beach in Carmel, Calif.

1. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore at Lake Michigan, in August, crystal clear water, the view, the swim, out of this world. 2. Lake Como, Italy, the water, the mountains, magical. 3. The west coast of Denmark, windswept, deserted islands, amazing colors, and a truly tranquil vibe.

Home is the South West of Ireland and at least once a week I am brought to tears by its beauty.

The Blasket Islands off the coast of Western Ireland. A guide hiked us up a non-trail for an unbeatable view, and I’ve truly never been somewhere so stunning in my entire life.

A close second is Exit Glacier in Kenji Fjords, Alaska. Another place where you really can’t believe what your eyes are telling you you’re seeing.

Has anyone already mentioned Plitvice Lake Area in Croatia? Truly a magical place with lakes and waterfalls everywhere.

-Big Bend National Park in West Texas. Camping in the bottom of a beautiful rock basin and waking up to orange-red sunlit cliffs was incredible.
-Taormina in Sicily–just incredible views of the Mediterranean
-Sedona, Arizona. I think I might be obsessed with red rocks.

Iceland. The views were extremely magical. We experienced 4 seasons weather in a day.

Some of my happiest memories from childhood are from weeks spent camping via boat at Lake Powell in southern Utah – the red rock with the deep turquoise water, the hot sun, and endless slot canyons, and towering rainbow bridge

Also the quiet of skiing in a snow storm high above the crowds in the aspens
