I’m about to fold epic amounts of laundry and am very excited to listen to this! Btw, I cannot recommend Jenny’s latest “Weeknight Vegetarian” cookbook enough. We are far from vegetarian but love these recipes! I’ve made three of them this weekend! I highly recommend.

Joanna, your voice is SO beautiful!! Seriously, I’m thinking – why has she been WRITING all these years?? Now I want to go back and listen to you read all of your posts. Gah.

Such a great conversation to listen to!! Growing up my Dad worked swing shift so weeknights were super casual with my Mom, sister and I. Now Saturday’s and Sundays when Daddy was home was mandatory sit-down dinners with a jug of Carlos Rossi wine under the table like any good Italian family. My husband and I both love to cook and we have family dinners as frequently as we can (hard during high school sports seasons). I am also a meat and potatoes girl who married a vegetarian and now eats 80% veg. It is possible!! Now that my daughter is away at college I LOVE planning the menu for her visits home. It’s one way I still get to mother even with big kids.

OMG I love Jenny- she was the one who turned me on to Cup Of Jo in the first place many years ago. I already know what Jenny sounds like as I saw her on a Food Network show a while ago. And Janna had posted a short video with herself talking to Toby, so I know her voice.
I just got the Weekday Veg book from the library and can’t wait to read it. Vegetarianism (even veggie-lite) is difficult in my household- I have an “old- fashioned, meat & potatoes” husband. He does not feel like a meal is complete without some animal protein. I have gotten around this by cooking with bacon fat, but any other suggestions?

I enjoyed this conversation! As lively and personable as the blogs are nothing beats hearing the actual lovely human voices behind the magic. (Joanna – that is my favorite blouse that you wear!).

Jenny, your voice sounds so young! I felt like I was listening to a teen — it’s so sweet and not what I imagined at all, haha! It was so lovely to listen to you both.

Oh my gosh!!! Joanna, you mentioned my note about going into labour in the comments section of a post about “who would you want in the delivery room” *and* you remembered the name of my sweet baby, Samson! That little rainbow baby just turned 5! What is time even. I actually just had a third surprise baby boy 10 weeks ago. After a hard morning with lots of crying (mine) I took Ezzie (the baby, who does not sleep) for a walk and popped on Jenny’s podcast only to hear you mention my comment. *magic* Hearing your kind voice reference a joyful part of my motherhood story on a day when I felt like I was drowning and desperate was such a balm for the soul. Eternally grateful for this community, and for you, and the ways in which all of our stories are connected – they help me remember that babies be babies, no feeling lasts forever, and we’re all in this together. Happy freaking Friday!!! Haha. Let’s do this.

Don’t ever apologize for your speaking voice, Joanna, it’s beautiful! I expected something squeaky or whatever after your disclaimer but out comes this beautiful, warm-toned voice in a lovely natural register! Brava! You have a GREAT voice!

Just adding to the joy – fantastic to listen to on my lunch break yesterday!

I made one of Jenny’s “Weekday Vegetarian” pizzas last night, actually! A special treat for my husband who is currently recovering from surgery. Her recipes never fail to satisfy!

So fun getting to hear your voice on Jenny’s podcast! As a fellow twin, it got me thinking, do you and your sister sound alike? Are you told that you sound different? Just curious!

Did they thought you sound like Mickey Mouse? You own a warm adult voice. And I expected nothing else.

i’m listening to this on my laptop without headphones. in bed next to husband. not a typical setup but i was too lazy to find my earbuds. two minutes in he said, “i can FEEL you grinning next to me. oh jo!” he gets it!

Your voice sounds just like I imagined. This chat sounded like listening to my own friends talking. So comforting and familiar just like the voice of the blog. :)
