Great gift guides but i much preferred the previous guides which showed the price also instead of having to click on the link.

I have to get that flip clock! I commute to and from Philly’s 30th St Station, and we lost our flip train board this year. I’m still sad that I don’t get to hear the glorious sounds of the board after each train departure, and this clock may just replace that!

That hot fudge is the best! We had a huge tub of it at our wedding, and there were no leftovers! Plus, Coop’s pairs with a wonderful organization to give employment to women who are trying to make a new start (sorry, I can’t remember the name of it).

I saw on a TV show’s credits recently an Eric Goddard. Is he your bro? (I always try to read credits, even when they go by too fast.)

I wonder why almost all gift guides (not just this one, of course) fall along gender binary for adults. I can’t imagine CoJ doing a guide for “little girls” and “little boys” so it’s strange to see siblings, parents, and partners divided when I’m sure these charming gifts would be welcome by any gender. It would be heartening to see these organized by metrics like personality traits or interests and would make them even more personal.

thank you for your note! i’ve always done them based on the people in my life — my own mom, dad, brother, sister, etc — and so they’re guided by their actual personalities (for example, my sister is super outdoorsy, and my mom is a big cook). i hope that helps!

I feel exactly the same way, thank you for articulating it. I appreciate and understand Jo’s response but as a non-binary person, it still just makes me feel weird. I know that the gender binary exists, but it already exists in so many places – does it have to apply to gift guides too?

MEC did a really great job at gift guides this year… including; “Gifts for kids”, “Gifts for them”. I ordered most of my gifts from mec.ca Vote with your money :)

Oh I gave my dad the Coop’s chocolate and caramel sauces last year and he LOVED THEM. He doesn’t drink, has all the tools he needs, and rarely watches tv. But ice cream he likes. Good gifts.

OK I’m dying to know. When you do gift guides, do you actually purchase those items for that person? Like, does it ruin the surprise for your whole family?? Surely you keep some gifts aside as a secret?!
