I love these illustrations keep them coming!!
This reminds me of something Liz Gilbert wrote; that our mind is like a bay with ships going in and out. It’s up to us to set up a guard and not let the ships of anxiety, self doubt and negativity moor there. They should be left in the open sea. It’s a good picture when my mind is whirring.
I’m definitely curious about the ‘which countries are introverted and extroverted.” I’ve lived in England, Italy, and France, and I can guess that the French are introverted, I’m a bit wishy-washy about the Brits, and the Italians are OVER THE TOP extroverted (of course! lol!). Heading over to the link now…

I adore Mari Andrews! And so love when the illustration here is one I haven’t seen before!
SO where I am right now! This was great :)
I love this actually!!! It resonates with me all too well. xx yael
This is making me laugh. The last few nights I’ve gotten to where I can’t fall asleep at night because I’m so anxious/angry/scared/hurt about the election. Last night my husband was all, “Look, even if Trump wins, it won’t be THAT bad. Please go to sleep.” And then I got angry at him for not being anxious enough. The more you suffer, the more it shows you really care, right?
I feel the exact same way, Heather!
I look forward to these every week! xoxo
Love this one!
I LOVE this series that you do, and todays is particularly appropriate for me as I’ve just submitted my first job application in years!
This would be AMAZING!
this would be so good at a therapist/psychologist office- and um, my bedroom too!
happy friday!

I wish I did, too! I love the analogy they use on the app, Headspace. Your brain is like a busy highway, filled with cars going in each direction. We tend to chase after cars or try to run out in the middle of traffic and “stop” them. Your goal is to be a spectator, sitting on a bench on the side of the road. So every time you find yourself chasing after one of those “cars” (i.e., anxious, stressful, sad, angry thoughts), just gently remind yourself to come back to the bench on the side of road, watching the cars passing you by.
Love this!
Isn’t it the best?! It really resonated with me.
This is so bloody good (and true).
I could have used this guy last night,
I was up at 3 AM because of anxious/upsetting thoughts and I had to watch two episodes of Gilmore Girls in order to fall asleep to something happy. I guess that’s close to a bouncer, just a little time consuming. :)
I love this! I’ve been struggling with anxiety a lot lately, and I’ll have to try picturing a good-looking, muscular bouncer sending those anxious thoughts away. One thing that has helped me recently: when I start having anxious or depressive thoughts, I immediately start praying for (or thinking good thoughts about) someone else–someone I know who is sick, or dealing with a crisis. It turns the focus off myself and onto someone who really needs that focus more than me.
Thanks for sharing! Praying is always a good trick to deal with bad thoughts.
I hope you’re feeling better now!
That’s a great way to focus…on sending positive vibes to others! Something else that might work is a few minutes of meditation before your heads hits the pillow ;-)
Any chance of buying this image from Mari? I’m a therapist and this would be great for my office.
