By the wonderful Grace Farris.
P.S. Pandemic hair and lipstick styles.
Last Christmas my cat got really sick. Ultimately they had to do emergency surgery and they found 37 hair ties! 37!!!! The kicker was that when I came to pick up the poor cat, they sent them home with me!
I always have a rush of appreciation when I find one hiding in the bottom of my purse in a moment of dire need- like when I am dining outside on a breezy day and need my hair to stay out of my face and my food, or when I am driving with the windows down so the wind can blow through the car.
Also my cat loves to play with them, which is just so odd to me, but big fun for him.
Mine end up stacked on the gearshift in the car, because most car seat headrests were not designed for ponytails!
My husband has long golden hair, a somewhat endearing absentmindedness, and wrists that are too big for hairbands. This triple threat means there are hairbands hidden everywhere in our home. A hook on the fridge, a bowl next to the couch, the gear shift in the car. He even has a secret stash in his little fishing boat! When we’re busy and social and moving around we both seem to be constantly looking for them, but since we have been home so much…I do not exaggerate when I tell you we have hundreds of hairbands, more than could ever fill his secret spots.
OMg, I love this. As an absentminded person myself, I leave my hair-ties everywhere too…the gearshift of the car my fav. Mi husband calls them “Claire (thats my name) scat”. I do the same with apple cores.
All my hair ties must be so bored during COVID. So few adventures these days. I see them piled up in the drawer of my bedside table, itching to be free.
My uncle used to say “more fairy droppings!” when he spotted a small rouge hair tie.
Love this.
I have really short hair now and mine all got repurposed for face masks. :-)
Happy Friday to all. I wanted to share what made my day today:
Last week (Oct. 4) was National Cinnamon Roll Day. How do I know that? My two friends decided that to celebrate they’d make a batch of cinnamon rolls from scratch and deliver them to their friends in Philly. This morning I received a knock before getting my work-from-home day started to find their two smiling faces (under masks of course!) with two *still warm* cinnamon rolls for me and my husband. The unexpected and kind gesture made my day!
This is the sweetest thing!!!
When I encounter a hair tie on the street during my walks, I like to invent a little backstory as to how it came to be and who wore it.
As in: shy 12 yo walking down her street and sees cute 13 yo she wants to impress, so she pulls out her hairtie and shakes her mane loose casually. (or so she thinks). Because…she has no where to put said hairtie and drops it on the street, too which cute 13 yo yells, “you dropped your hair elastic!”
Lol. Hair ties are also unwilling cat toys. Poor hair ties, mutilated by The Beast.
I bought a huge pack of hair ties just for my cat to play with. She loves when I shoot them across the floor so she can chase them.
My chihuahua-terrier mutt loves to destroy hair ties. As soon as one slips off my hair she sneaks over, gets it, and breaks it within 60 seconds. I buy 20 of them every 3-4 months LOL
HA! Love this! I feel like there needs to be one for the thick haired girls… “Can’t…… hold….. any…. longer…. SNAP!”
Funny!!!
Hahahah this is amazing
I call these hair bands! I always wonder what others call them and if these are regional differences.
We called them elastics in my corner of Australia in the 80s =)
I call them hair tie or ponytail holder here in Atlanta.
Hair elastics! For some reason the term “hair tie” makes my skin crawl.
Hair bobble here in Scotland! No idea why though, it’s a bit bizarre now I think about it…
Lackies. :) Western Australia
ponytail holders!
One of my skinny black hair ties fell on me the other day, seemingly out of nowhere, and I screamed because I thought it was a spider.
This made me lol! I’ve scared myself with a hair tie too ?
My adventurous buddies prefer to spend their weekends spelunking into the crevasses of my couch…
Mine are squirreled away into piles under the bed and behind the couch, thanks to my silly cat
Where do they go??? Maybe they’re hanging out with my missing socks from the dryer!
YES! They also seem to have a particular fondness for playing with my cat (or is it vice versa).
The link to the lipstick one makes me so, so sad. COVID has ruined everything.
They get stolen by your cat!
