I mean it when I say: Thank goodness for comedians. Along with books and coffee (and the occasional walk) the levity of hilarious humans is one of the things getting me through these strange, snowy days. Here are four current favorites, and I’d love to hear yours…
Last weekend, I stumbled across comedian Matthew Friend and got lost in his amazing impressions. There’s Michael Bublé announcing new music, Rami Malek drinking coffee, or his series of celebrities putting on face masks, including Howard Stern , John Oliver, and my personal favorite, Jeff Goldblum. (To which Goldblum himself replied, “Accurate.”)
SNL cast member Chloe Fineman’s feed is arguably even funnier than the show. Her impressions of celebrities like Drew Barrymore and Reese Witherspoon are spot on, but it’s her take on pop culture figures, like Daphne Bridgerton, and Gillian-Anderson-as-Margaret-Thatcher in the The Crown (that perfect throaty voice!) that really get me.
My colleague Kim alerted me to the wonderful Ceara O’Sullivan, who offers takes on everything from various milks to the HR lady who stops by your office every Friday. But her impressions of her mom are not to be missed, like her first visit to Chipotle, the way she enters the room at 7 a.m. whenever Ceara visits home, or how to use the TV remotes.
We all know Leslie Jones from her many roles and her time on SNL. But her Instagram makes the world we currently inhabit, from politics to memes to TV shows, a whole lot funnier. I adore her running commentary on the news, recently singing MSNBC’s Nicole Wallace a happy birthday song, or dissecting the rooms behind commentators, like a corner with candles, built-in bookcases and evening pearls. When I hear my neighbor’s TV through the wall, I like to imagine what it would be like to be Leslie’s neighbor instead. One can dream.

P.S. Four more hilarious Instagram accounts and a comedian shares her beauty uniform.
