Just a thought… Could you learn to love the ringlets? I’ve embraced mine and I get compliments on my hair all the time, even from perfect strangers.

I have the same type of hair. My trick is to twist or braid the top layer when it’s still damp, up into two little buns or pulled back with a clip (so the underneath layers are still down, air drying into their happy waviness). When all is done air drying, both the top and underneath parts of my hair are wavy!

Try root clipping. Google it and you’ll see some good choices.

after you’ve scrunched out most of the liquid but your hair is still wet, when you’re applying product, twist larger sections of it into curled locks. leave these twists intact until fully dry – this is basically a variant on what they call “curl training.” it’s what i do to get beachy waves, although sounds like your hair may be finer than mine. hope this helps anyway!
