10 Sweet Crib Sheets

A few of my friends are expecting babies, and one thing I find very adorable are crib sheets. They’re so clean and fresh and sweet; plus, they pair with napping babies. Here are a few lovely patterns…

Thoughts? Which do you like? This bundle also looks great.

P.S. One thing that has surprised me about parenting, and breastfeeding in public.

Before having a baby, I spent houurrrrs looking at crib sheets (and muslin swaddle blankets, and clothing, etc.) – he’s a little over 8 months old and so far he has only slept in his bassinet, and his pack ‘n play in our room. We do have really cute sheets on the crib for one day!! Haha.

As i read this my baby just moved into her nursery crib for her first nap out of my room and tonight will be her first night away *cue crying* I might get those adorable duck sheets as a present to both of us for making it through.

Lol, you are right! I have this exact sheet and can vouch for them. They are soft, wash well and there are so many great prints by this brand. I also have the lions, stars, CB planets and florals. My toddler just loves them.

Hi AP! We started having Ella sleep in her crib in her own room in January, and it was so hard! I feel your pain! For the first month, Max (my husband) and I would take turns sitting in the room with her until she fell asleep. We knew the transition was a big one, and wanted her to see her room and crib as a safe place. So we would get her room ready (lights off, sound machine on, podcast queued), lay her in the crib, then pat her back or hold her hand until she fell asleep (usually happened after 20 – 30 minutes, therefore the podcast lol), then sneak out of there. After about a month, she got to the point where now we can lay her in there at night and she’ll put herself to sleep usually within 5 – 10 minutes.

Hi AP! I’m sure it’s so different for everyone, but fortunately it was really easy for us. We had already been using our son’s room for changing diapers and getting ready for bed so he was used to it. We waited for a weekend and used the crib for his naps and then after a few days did it for night time. Didn’t wait around, just did bedtime routine and laid him down and he put himself to sleep within a couple minutes. Honestly it was harder for me and my husband than him! We had also transitioned him from a bassinet to a pack n play in our room around 3.5 months when he could start kicking over the edge of the bassinet so he was used to a larger space already. Deep breaths! You’ve got this and so does your baby!

I have a totally different use for cute crib sheets. My dog is a lab, his bed is almost crib sized and I use crib sheets to go over the water resistant cover that’s a pain to wash. Then I just pop the sheet in the laundry as frequently as needed.

I like the Pobi Baby sheets! We did a light woodland theme for our baby’s room and they have cute animal and tree prints, both in crib and changing pad sizes.

Also, just wanted to throw out there for any expecting parents, you probably won’t need a crib for the first 6 months if you’re planning to have them in the room with you! I feel like it’s expected for the baby’s room to be perfect right away, but it really doesn’t need to be! My husband made our crib and we had soooo many people asking if it would be done “in time.” I’m like, y’all, it’s fine. (We used a bassinet for 4 months then a pack n play for 2 months in our room.)

Any advice for finding cute cribsheets that fit a mini crib (like a Babyletto mini crib, for example)? That’s the one part of the crib puzzle I can’t quite figure out. Baby otw, small house, no way we’re finding space for a full sized crib!

I also adore cute sheets, but my mom gave us all our crib bedding as a gift, and she went with plain white. I wanted to offer a helpful counterpoint or two!

First, the boring pragmatic ones:

You can tell easily if a diaper has leaked when a sheet is plain
You can tell when a baby has spit up a bit when a sheet is plain
You can tell when a baby has wiped a thousand snot stains from their sudden daycare cold and needs a sheet swap earlier than anticipated when a sheet is plain

Now the fun design minded ones:

SO MUCH that babies wear or are surrounded by us a riot of cacophonous pattern and colour. You might actually find it nicer to have a plain sheet to offset the stripped sleep sack and airplane patterned jammies. (OR, just be thoughtful about how patterns layer and combine when it comes to your registry, keeping in mind that lots of people will want to shop off registry too.) It makes for cuter crib pics when the pattern mishmash doesn’t make your eyes bleed, hah.

(But also I totally pined for cute sheets and now that my kids are older I’m all about the patterned bedding!)

I have all kinds of patterns (dinosaurs, ocean, forest creatures) so when I was asked what “theme” I was doing I said “the world!” Haha!

We have all solid colored crib sheets (white/cream/green). I have a beautiful rifle paper co. rug on the floor that’s all kinds of colorful and 2-3 very colorful patterned art pieces in our nursery, so it looks a bit neater to have a solid color crib sheet. These patterns are lovely though! And I know some companies will use the same patterns they sell as crib sheets for sleep sacks (Pehr comes to mind) if anyone’s looking!

When my babies were babies, I loved making crib sheets to customize their nurseries. They’re pretty simple to sew (a few straight lines, a little pressing, and a bit of elastic), and you can have any decor style you like! I recommend the tutorial by Dana of Made Everyday.
